Classic Vanilla Flan (Caramel Custard)

Ingredients
Caramel
- 1 cup sugar
Custard
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns golden caramel.
- Carefully pour the caramel into a flan mold, spreading evenly.
- In a bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the custard mixture over the caramel.
- Place the mold in a baking dish filled with hot water (water bath).
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 45–50 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
- Unmold and serve chilled.
